That was then–more than two decades ago–and that’s what it took—something horrific. Is that what it will still take for a common purpose and sense of unity to come to the aid of a nation embroiled with harmful, hateful divisiveness?
Joe, It looks more and more like a traumatic event will be necessary to draw us together, if only for a while. As a species, we seem unable to learn from history, and reticent to surrender our biases for a common cause. I was hoping for a better today, yesterday.
