Campaign Disparities

* It still seems weird that Hillary Clinton beat Barack Obama in the 2008 New Hampshire primary, but got hammered by Bernie Sanders in the Granite State. Timing is everything.

* The maximum candidate contribution allowed in the primaries is $2,700. The Clinton campaign has 24,000 such donors, individuals and PACs. So far, the Sanders campaign has 650 donors who have maxed out.

* To date, Jeb Bush leads all candidates in ad spending at $76.7 million. Not that it’s any shock, but all but $4.9 million of it is from his Right to Rise super PAC.

This was implicit in the context of a Citizens United question he answered recently in New Hampshire. That response was a new low for disingenuous, political spin. “I would turn that on its head if I could,” said Bush. Yeah, but he can’t. And he wouldn’t still have a candidacy if it were not for the Citizens United unleashing of super PACs.
